 I've been working closely with Denise Restauri on a comic for Forbes.com. The girl that the comic is on is Maggie Doyne- she is a 25 year old mother of 40 children in Nepal. She began a school for those orphans, and now watches after them. A young Mother Theresa in my book.
She spoke at the Forbes 400 Summit and was one of two standing ovations.

 I was able to talk with her for about an hour a few months ago, and we talked about how she began, her experience building the school, as well as the troubles that she has had, and the triumphs. She is a strong, genuine person, who just wants the world to be a better place, and is definitely making it happen.

The 9th & 9th Festival 2012

Upon returning from Thailand a few days ago, my husband and I discovered I was accepted to this year's 9th & 9th Festival... so I'm in the process of getting my work together to sell this Saturday, Sept 15th! Craft Lake City 2012

This year I was a participant of Salt Lake City's annual craft market- Craft Lake City. Here are some of the items I was selling at my booth. I was interviewed by KSL as well, you can watch my demo and interview here.

It went well I thought- I sold almost all of the plates I'd painted. I think my interview on KSL helped some, a few people came by and said they had seen my work on tv, which was fun.

Celebration of The Hand.

For those of you who didn't know, I participated in a project called Celebration of The Hand, which was a promotional piece/collaboration with Craft Lake City. A few of the artists from Craft Lake were asked to create pieces for The Temporary Museum of Permenant Change, which are a series of plaquets around SLC that display artwork for people around the city to enjoy.

I did one of my Domino Dog.. which was a dog that I once dreamt about, which was 9 feet long, and had a domino pattern on it's back. It had puppies, and they were for sale in a mall I was walking around in. I decided against getting one in my dream, thinking it would be a bit of an inconvenience to have a 9 ft long dog around.

I liked the image, and thought it would be kind of a fun symbol for Craft Lake City, as well as for this particular exhibition. Here is the video- excuse my brief appearance ;)

I decided to keep it simple- and keep growing it out as naturally as possible... it's been a long time since I did. I thought I'd wait on the hair melt.

Makayla, from Ulysses Salon cut and styled it- she did a beautiful job. I will recommend her to anyone who needs a freshening up of their current look, or even a new one. She is talented and fun to talk to. Plus, who doesn't love their salon venue? It's based in the upstairs of an old warehouse, complete with an old pulley system. It's beautiful.
