S A L E for UNICEF

Friday, November 27, 2015

I've been thinking about the Syrian refugees for a while now. I know they, as well as others, have been suffering for years in the Middle East. Thanks to social media, I feel like we are all becoming more aware of what is going on, and what we can do to help. My heart reaches out to these desperate people who are fleeing their homes piled onto boats to try and find something less violent, not knowing if they will even survive the trip. Dying in a boat is better than being in Syria. It's that bad. I know how much I have been blessed with as an American citizen. I have always had freedoms and safety. I can't imagine my country being war-torn and unsafe to live in. It's horrifying.

I want so much to be able to help in some way through my work, so this weekend use code: UNICEF at checkout, and 10% of all proceeds will go to UNICEF. Your purchase will help provide humanitarian aid and supplies to help the refugees, most of which are children.
Let's help give back. Every little bit helps.

Nicole Kidman + Photograph 51

Monday, November 23, 2015

A few weekends ago we went to watch Nicole Kidman in the play Photograph 51 here in London's West End. This play is about Rosalind Franklin, the first woman who discovered DNA and was unaccredited due to specific circumstances. I stood in line for 4 hours from 6:30AM to get tickets for that day, which I know sounds ridiculous, but the tickets were scarce, and I wanted to see it so much! We succeeded, and tickets were had. That evening, we had second row seats, and it was absolutely stunning watching Nicole Kidman, who played Rosalind spectacularly. I wasn't familiar with the story in such depth, and I loved the portrayal of her. It broke my heart!

After the show, we went outside to the back-stage door to wait for the actors and actress (NK) to come out. I had drawn this illustration for Nicole and hoped to give it to her. But as I waited, I felt silly, and thought I might just get her autograph and not give it to her. But then she appeared, and Brandon told me to just hand it to her, and I did as she came along the line signing. She stopped at the drawing and was about to sign it and then did a double take and looked up. I said, "This is for you!" and she looked surprised and smiled as she took it and said a very gracious, "Thank you!"
I had written her a little note to her in it too, just telling her I loved her movies growing up.
You know, being a typical FAN.
But I love that she now has one of my drawings!
If you had a chance to see this play, what did you think of it?

Winter is here...

Sunday, November 22, 2015

It is officially winter.... I woke up today and it was -1 degrees, and for London, that's cold! Their winters are mild for the most part. All I want is a onesie and a cup of hot chocolate on days like these.

Last day to order for Xmas is....

Saturday, November 21, 2015

Monday November 22 is the last day you may order any of my printed clothing items in time for Christmas! After that, please note that it will arrive AFTER Christmas.  All other items are available to order until 1 week before Christmas.

I kind of like that London doesn't have Thanksgiving, because it means I can start listening to Christmas music the moment Halloween is over.
But then again...I guess I kind of just do that anyway, even in the states.

(Christmas is coming...the goose is getting fat....)

H A L L O W E E N | London

Sunday, November 1, 2015

I couldn't help but do those hands every time I posed...
I became the cat with that mask on, (and everything was a threat!).
 Meow meow meow!

Our shoot was near my home in an old cemetery at St. Nicholas's church. (William Hogarth is buried there actually..) we trundled around there for a bit and then head over to Chiswick House.
Couldn't help but pose with our fellow species, the lion. I painted the dead mouse face onto the pumpkin, and yes, our collaboration for the Leaf People Dress, is here again, making another fall appearance.
Even on a cat, it's an adorable dress.

Halloween here in London is slowly picking up more and more. This year we saw even more people dressed up, and I'm so glad. I love Halloween. I spent the day and evening with my husband on a day trip to Rochester Castle, and at a friend's beautiful concert at Canterbury Cathedral. I'll post pictures of that at some point, but for now, enjoy these.
Thank You to my beautiful and wonderful Kami Weddick for photos and Kate,
my side-kick kitty-friend--
Both of whom, are always up for the weird and wonderful.
 xx
